receive your rain

when you pray bold prayers and ask God to move, don’t be surprised when life gets a little less comfortable.
at the beginning of this quarantine, I asked God to teach me more about who He really is. I asked Him to make my heart more sensitive to His voice than ever. and I told Him I meant it.
little did I know I prayed discomfort upon myself.
I wanted out of a dry season, and it started to rain
1) the Lord taught me He is more than good.
He has asked me to trust that He’s better than the things He’s asked me to let go of. the relationships he’s asked me to walk away from. all the things I didn’t realize I had a tight grip on, he said to put them down and walk away.
2) the Lord has taught me He is always present.
in the midst of loneliness, longing, and overwhelming feelings of anxiety/grief/envy/and more,
He is there with me before I even cry out for help. He is a present help in trouble. He sees past this, and invites me to trust that I will grow from this rain.
3) the Lord has taught me He is too loving to leave me broken.
i feel new heart break. I see new shortcomings,
but He sees an opportunity to grow my faith. To become my entire Portion, not just part. The only One I hope in, not just one of the things I hope in.
like a planted seed, I can’t see the sun sometimes.
like new growth, I’m sometimes going to the question the downpour of rain.
but the roots are soaking it all up. and that foundation is what the Lord is establishing. He says I’m not finished yet... He’s saying wait, because He sees how beautiful the spring will be. He’s Lord of the Harvest, and He doesn’t want you to miss out on what He has in store.
His “wait” isn’t a command, it’s a promise of so much more ahead
struggling in your pursuit of the Lord?? you’re probably doing something right. you’re making the enemy uncomfortable, and he’s going to try his best convince you to give it up.
some encouragement to write down somewhere:
You NEED to persevere, so that when you have done His will, you’ll receive His blessing in FULL
(Hebrews 10:36)
don’t forget what your fighting for, and more importantly, don’t forget Who’s fighting FOR you :)
